Winter-approved Tyres on Rental Cars

Winter-ready as standard with Europcar

Danish version: Vinterdæk

At Europcar, winter-approved tyres are included as standard when you rent a car in Denmark from 1 November to 31 March. During this period, all our rental cars are fitted with 3PMSF-marked winter-approved tyres, which are particularly suitable for driving in snowy and icy conditions.

There's no need to add winter tyres as an optional extra when booking your rental car. We make sure your vehicle is ready for winter conditions, so you can focus on enjoying your journey.

What does 3PMSF mean?

3PMSF stands for Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake and refers to the symbol featuring a mountain with a snowflake inside it, which can be found on the sidewall of the tyre.

This marking confirms that the tyre has passed standardised tests for grip on snow. The Danish Road Traffic Authority identifies 3PMSF-marked tyres as particularly suitable for driving in severe winter conditions.

Winter tyre regulations in Denmark

On 1 July 2025, the Danish Road Traffic Act was clarified to explicitly prohibit driving with tyres that are clearly unsuitable for current or anticipated road conditions.

In practice, this means your tyres must be appropriate for the conditions, particularly when driving on snow, ice or slush.

The Danish Road Traffic Authority recommends using winter tyres when winter conditions are expected and highlights 3PMSF-marked tyres as particularly suitable for driving on snow-covered or icy roads.
